On Motu To’opua, a small islet off Bora Bora’s southwest coast, Conrad Bora Bora Nui is reached by boat rather than road. Its accommodation mix spans overwater villas, beachfront villas and hillside suites, with a private pool in every villa. The setting pairs lagoon-facing stays with a steep, green interior and a small private-islet location; the resort also has several dining venues and Hina Spa. Formerly Hilton Bora Bora Nui Resort & Spa, it reopened as Conrad Bora Bora Nui in 2017.

Before closing on June 1, 2026, this 84-villa resort occupied Motu Piti Aau, a private motu on Bora Bora’s eastern lagoon edge, apart from the island’s Le Moana resort. Its defining stay was entirely overwater: villas opened onto the lagoon, with views toward Mount Otemanu and the open Pacific. The former resort is undergoing extensive renovation and is scheduled to reopen as Regent Bora Bora in late 2027; its future facilities and guest experience may differ.

On Motu Onetahi in Tetiaroa, The Brando occupies a single motu within a coral-ringed atoll in the Society Islands. Its small footprint is unusual even by island-resort standards: 35 private villas and one private residence, set among palms just back from the beach. The experience is shaped as much by the surrounding lagoon, reef, wildlife and Polynesian heritage as by the accommodation, with guided excursions and cultural activities tied to the atoll.

On Motu Tape, the former Le Méridien Bora Bora has been renovated and rebranded as a Westin resort. Its accommodation pairs overwater bungalows with beachside villas, set around a lagoon with Mount Otemanu views. The scale is resort-sized rather than intimate: guests can choose between a stay above the water or beside the beach, with an infinity pool, spa, restaurants and a turtle-focused Eco Centre also on site.
