Old Cataract, Aswan
Aswan, Egypt
Opened in 1899, Old Cataract occupies a pink-granite rise above the Nile, facing Elephantine Island from Aswan’s Nubian Desert setting. The historic Palace is the part currently described for stays: its rooms and suites pair French elegance and Egyptian influences with classic furnishings, while selected suites have private terraces and river views. Mandarin Oriental has taken over management as renovation proceeds; the hotel says facility availability may vary, so this is a property in transition rather than a fully settled reopening.
