Auberge du Soleil
Rutherford, United States
Auberge du Soleil occupies a hillside above Napa Valley, among 33 acres of olive and oak trees. Its 50 accommodations are arranged as rooms, suites and two-bedroom private maisons, many with terraces oriented toward the valley. The property began in 1981 as a fine-dining restaurant; lodging followed in 1986. Today, its identity still turns on that pairing: a small wine-country retreat with a destination restaurant, set apart from the valley floor by its hillside location.
