Desa Potato Head Bali

1 / 10

The takeaway

Choose Desa Potato Head for an oceanfront Seminyak stay where striking design and a busy art, food and music scene are part of the hotel itself.

About the hotel

On Seminyak’s Petitenget shoreline, Desa Potato Head is a large oceanfront creative village that brings its hotel stays together with art, design, music, food and wellbeing. Its accommodation is split between the OMA-designed Studios and the craft-focused Suites, with the wider site organized around a courtyard and a beachfront club. The emphasis is less on retreating from the scene than on having cultural programming, dining and social spaces woven into the stay.

Choose it if

You want an oceanfront Seminyak base with a Beach Club, restaurants and pools within the same village.
You value architecture and locally made or repurposed materials as much as a conventional resort setting.
You want art, music and food programming close at hand rather than a stay focused only on quiet seclusion.

Skip it if

You want a quiet, secluded retreat: this is a shared creative village with a Beach Club where music and events are part of the offer.

Guests describe a small, relatively expensive room that feels more spacious thanks to its high ceilings and design. One guest also highlights the separation between the hotel pools and beach club as a source of quiet, and praises the seafood, spa, and regularly cleaned beach.

“YES our room was small and pricey for bali prices but the ceilings were super tall and it was designed in a way that made it feel spacious.”

“Great restaurants, the hotel part and the pools are separate from the beach club so it's peaceful, the beach in front is beachcombed regularly and is clean, food is excellent especially the seafood, spa is great”

“At first, I thought it was gonna give off boring school presentation vibes. But it was actually super cool because they take you to see the whole process firsthand”

Designed by Henry Hohauser, the original building opened as the Dempsey-Vanderbilt Hotel in 1937; a contemporary tower adds another accommodation style alongside the historic rooms.
