Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona
Barcelona, Spain
On Barcelona’s Passeig de Gràcia, this 120-room-and-suite hotel occupies a redeveloped 1955 bank building, retaining a link to its former use in details such as the original safes at Banker’s Bar. Patricia Urquiola’s interiors bring contemporary design to the former headquarters, while views look either to the avenue or the hotel’s Mimosa Garden. The experience is distinctly urban: Catalan dining, a spa and seasonal rooftop spaces sit alongside the city’s shopping and modernist architecture.
