Sol y Luna suits travelers who want a garden-spread casita stay, with Andean art, regional cooking and the Sacred Valley close at hand.
Set in Urubamba in Peru’s Sacred Valley, Sol y Luna spreads 43 private casitas across gardens of native valley flora, each with views toward the Andes. The circular rooms combine local stone, terracotta and adobe with Peruvian textiles, colonial-style furnishings and original murals. Three accommodation categories give the property a village-like layout rather than a single hotel block. Two restaurants focus on Andean and contemporary Peruvian cooking, while the Yacu Wasi spa offers a quieter counterpoint to days spent exploring the valley.

Its 55 suites sit within a layered site that served as a private residence, Jesuit college and convent before reopening as a hotel in 2012. Inca stonework and colonial architecture frame a courtyard-led stay, while the property’s Andean restaurant, spa and heated outdoor pool bring contemporary comforts into the historic setting.
San Pedro de Atacama, Chile
On the outskirts of San Pedro de Atacama, Tierra Atacama is a 28-room lodge set in the desert with views toward the Andes and Licancabur Volcano. It reopened on April 1, 2025, after a major refurbishment that retained adobe walls from the former cattle corral on the site. Days here are shaped around guided excursions into the high-altitude desert; back at the lodge, the open-grill restaurant, wine cellar and spa offer a quieter counterpoint to the landscape.
Tacacorí, Costa Rica
In Tacacorí, Alajuela, Xandari occupies a 16-hectare private natural reserve above Costa Rica’s Central Valley. Its 24 villas sit among gardens, with terraces oriented toward valley and mountain views. The resort’s character comes from the meeting of contemporary art and tropical color with forest paths, rivers and waterfalls; pools and a spa village add places to pause on the grounds. The scale is intimate enough to make the reserve, rather than a town center, the focus of the stay.
Bajos del Toro, Costa Rica
In Bajos del Toro, El Silencio Lodge & Spa occupies a 500-acre cloud-forest reserve in Costa Rica’s Alajuela highlands, bordered by protected natural areas. Suites and villas are arranged on the hillside, with forest trails and waterfalls shaping the stay. Guests can pair guided hikes and other outdoor activities with spa treatments, yoga, and meals at Las Ventanas. The experience is oriented around the surrounding landscape rather than a coastal or city setting.
Chocholá, Mexico
Chablé Yucatán is a low-density resort in Chocholá built around a restored 19th-century henequen hacienda and spread across 750 acres of Maya forest. Accommodation is in 40 standalone casitas and villas, rather than a main hotel block, which keeps the feel private and dispersed. The defining experience is less beach holiday than inward-looking retreat: jungle, Mayan-influenced wellness, and a spa arranged around a sacred cenote, with Mérida close enough for a day trip.
