The Newt in Somerset

1 / 10

The takeaway

Choose The Newt for a garden-rich country-estate stay, with a Georgian house or converted farm buildings as your base.

About the hotel

The Newt is a working Somerset country estate where a hotel sits within gardens, woodland, farmland and cyder orchards. Accommodation is divided between Georgian Hadspen House and its Stable Yard, near the formal gardens and spa, and the Farmyard, a restored cluster of former dairy buildings set among orchards and fields. The estate’s gardens, food and cyder-making are part of the stay, with restaurants in both hotel areas and bikes or buggies for getting between them.

Choose it if

You want gardens, woodland walks and working-estate experiences to be part of your stay, rather than just a backdrop.
You like choosing between a Georgian house setting and converted agricultural buildings, with restaurants and a spa on the estate.

Skip it if

You want all rooms and facilities in one compact building: the Farmyard is a separate hotel area, reached from Hadspen by bike or buggy.
You need to bring a pet; pets are not permitted on the estate, except assistance dogs.
