Snowmass Village, United States

Viceroy Snowmass

1 / 10

The takeaway

Choose Viceroy Snowmass for a slope-side base with residence-style space, especially when ski access and a substantial spa matter as much as the mountain.

About the hotel

Viceroy Snowmass occupies two residential-style towers at the base of Snowmass Mountain, with ski-in/ski-out access in winter and village and mountain activities in warmer months. Its studios, suites, penthouses, and residences include kitchen facilities in some categories, alongside a 7,000-square-foot spa, a year-round heated outdoor pool, and on-site dining. The slope-side location keeps the mountain central, while the larger, apartment-like accommodations also suit groups and longer stays.

Choose it if

You want ski-in/ski-out access on Snowmass Mountain rather than a base elsewhere in the valley.
You value residence-style room choices, including studios, suites, penthouses, and larger units.
You want a substantial on-site spa and a heated outdoor pool as part of a mountain stay.

Skip it if

You want a small, stand-alone lodge: this is a resort with two accommodation towers and residential-style units.

Guest discussion

What real people are saying.

Reddit excerpts · separate from Rex’s editorial judgment

Guests praise the ski-in/ski-out access and the hotel’s physical features, but one firsthand account describes service and reservations as serious weak points. Another guest liked the spa while finding the outdoor pool and hot tub underwhelming, suggesting the appeal may depend more on the room and ski access than on the facilities.

Discussion is limited; these accounts offer a glimpse rather than a broad verdict.

“We've only stayed at the Viceroy Snowmass before, loved the ski-in/ski-out and the hard product, but their service and reservation department were extremely questionable, will not go back.”

“Really liked the hard product at the Viceroy. I'm with you on the restaurant. I also found their outdoor pool/hot tub setup to be lackluster. The spa was nice though”

Viceroy Santa Monica

BeachCoastal

Viceroy Santa Monica is a 169-room hotel on Ocean Avenue, a short walk from the beach and Santa Monica’s pier-side attractions. Its coastal-leaning rooms and suites look toward the ocean, pool or city, while the outdoor spaces—two pools, a patio and open-air cabanas—give the property a distinct poolside social life. Sugar Palm adds indoor-outdoor dining and a wraparound bar. The scale is substantial enough for a full-service stay, but the experience is centered on the coast rather than a sprawling resort.
